Did you know that end-of-life battery recycling is mandated by the Province of Manitoba? This means that batteries cannot be disposed of in the landfill or recycling bins. Since its inception in 2011, the University of Manitoba’s Battery Recycling Program has diverted more than 5.7 tonnes of common household batteries from landfill, the equivalent of approximately 3 hippopotamuses.
