Take Our Kids to Work Day at the U of M offers unique opportunities for Grade 9 students
Register now for the November 14 event
The annual Take our Kids to Work Day takes place on Wednesday, November 14 at both the Fort Garry and Bannatyne campuses. The Canada-wide initiative is aimed at grade 9 students, allowing them spend a day at the workplace of their parent, relative, friend or volunteer host.
Faculty and staff can enrol their grade 9 student in the formal program that runs 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and includes a wide range of activities, or have their student job-shadow them on campus. The goal of the national event is to introduce students to the working world and make connections between their education and future careers.
“We welcome faculty and staff to participate in this exciting program and bring their teenagers to the U of M on November 14,” says Gregory Juliano, associate vice-president (human resources).
“Not only will students gain an appreciation of the working world, they can also get a glimpse into campus life and ignite possibilities for their own future at the university, including pursuing education or a future career here.”
See the formal program agenda and session descriptions on the human resources website.
Because space is limited, faculty and staff are encouraged to register their child, relative or guest as soon as possible.
