Global Colours Photo Contest announces 2016 winners
The Gallery of Student Art has been showing off photos vying for a top spot in the Global Colours Photo Contest. The winners (first place, second place, and viewer’s choice) have been announced.
Top prize went to Sedigheh Nazaripour, Faculty of Graduate Studies (Chemistry), for her photo of “Zoohky”.
Zoohky is a mural in downtown Winnipeg. It caught Nazaripour’s attention from the first time she saw it.
“I learned that the man in the mural is Walter Zielke Ruesch” she writes. “He’s a simple man who traveled around the city on his bike, collecting all sorts of discarded materials to fix some bikes or a neighbours’ furnace.”
Nazaripour returned with her camera to take a photo when she noticed a man who almost looked like Zoohky passing in front of it.
Second place went to Hillary Linden, Faculty of Arts.
