Young Scholars Conference on China Studies
The University of Manitoba Transport Institute (UMTI) co-organized the 5th Young Scholars Conference on China Studies, held in Hong Kong, China, on December 18-19, 2017, together with the Hong Kong Baptist University (China), Tsinghua University (China), Academia Sinica (ROC), and the University of Queensland (Australia).
Themed “New Orders in Global Politics and Economics: The Challenges and Opportunities of China Studies”, the conference presented postgraduate students and young faculty members with the opportunity to build a stronger professional network in China Studies, better facilitating their research and future development.
During the conference, UMTI organized a special session on China Business and Management. It consisted of four presentations that addressed various management issues related to Chinese ports, high speed rail in China, the role of China in Arctic geopolitics, and ferry services in Hong Kong. The conference was well-represented by UMTI and Asper staff, students, and associates, including Adolf Ng, Changmin Jiang, Paul Larson, Yufeng Lin, Ge Gao, Yui-yip Lau, and Ka Chai Tam.
