Virtual Study Hall Starting This Week
Virtual Study Hall is available on Thursdays and Saturdays, starting this week!
Virtual Study Hall is perfect for those tasks/assignments that you are avoiding. Use it to jump start your studying: focus on complicated problems, study for an upcoming test/exam, or draft (or revise) a paper.
Why should I study online when I can do it in person?
1) Flexibility: You can join the virtual study group from home or in a quiet library corner.
2) Motivation: Studying with others is shown to be useful, and the VSH is a low-key way to provide accountability. Using a virtual study group can also increase motivation because you can see that you are making progress, and it reduces procrastination.
3) Accountability: Sessions are planned and time limited. You can schedule the study session and know that at least once a week, you will focus on a university assignment for 90 or 120 minutes.
4) Distraction free: Studying with friends can be useful until they turn into chat sessions. VSH provides a guaranteed quiet study session with minimal distractions.
Virtual study hall takes place via Zoom on Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm and Saturdays from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The sessions use the Pomodoro method — study for 25 minutes, take a 5-minute break and repeat. No registration is required, and links to join the sessions are here.
