UM Community Volunteers 2023
UMCV Starting the new year with community volunteering in Winnipeg - Make friends while making a difference.
Community Engaged Learning (CEL) is a great way to connect and form partnerships that build trust and a sense of community between UM and our community partners. It is an opportunity to work with local organizations and implement hands-on projects that meet community needs.
The CEL’s UM Community Volunteers (UMCV) program is designed to engage UM’s student body and connect students with community organizations that would benefit from additional support. The UMCV is an entry-level volunteer program created to gather students of all backgrounds with the common goal of community work.
Through the program, participants experience community engagement and experiential learning, with hands-on experience that is designed to engage thoughtful reflection. The program provides an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills through volunteering and develop project plans that directly benefit partner organizations such as West Broadway Youth Outreach and NEEDS, Inc., and Poverty Awareness & Community Action.
Through locally run projects, participants will have community-level connections and experience meaningful discussions, while being mentorship leaders. The successful completion of the program will give students a Co-Curricular Record and the invaluable mentorship of our community leaders. It’s also a great way to meet new people, make new friends and contributes to our community in a truly significant way.
The deadline to apply for UMCV 2023 is Monday, February 6. For more information to apply, please visit UM Community Volunteers – 2023 Program Application Form.
