December 10, 2024 — 
On November 27, 2024, two third-year law students, Nicholas Ly (3L) and Jordan Wagner (3L) [BComm(Hons)/2022] , from the Faculty of Law’s L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic, delivered an insightful presentation at the Faculty of Law to fellow students. This event, entitled "Where IP and Business Law Connect", was hosted by the Manitoba Law Student Association’s, Intellectual Property and Technology Law Group and the Business Law Group. The presentation highlighted the critical intersections between intellectual property (IP) and business law.

December 6, 2024 — 
On October 11, 2024, law students at the University of Manitoba’s L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic had the unique opportunity to meet in person with the Clinic’s benefactor, L. Kerry Vickar [LLB/1980], and his wife, Simone Vickar. This visit allowed students to showcase what they’ve learned through the Clinic and to gain insights from an alum whose entrepreneurial vision has helped shaped their legal education.

November 25, 2024 — 
On November 14, 2024, students from the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic and the Indigenous Business Education Partners (IBEP) at the Asper School of Business came together at the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg to celebrate the 18th annual Visionary Indigenous Business Excellence (VIBE) Awards. The event, hosted by IBEP, coincided with the 30th anniversary of IBEP, marking three decades of fostering community, education, and Indigenous business leadership.

November 22, 2024 — 
On November 6, 2024, law students from the Faculty of Law’s L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic, Ravi Balchan (3L) [B. Comm. (Hons.)/2022], Alli Knox (3L) [B. Comm. (Hons.)/2017], and Jordan Wagner (3L) [B. Comm. (Hons.)/2022], all Asper School of Business graduates, hosted a webinar in collaboration with the Stu Clark Centre for Entrepreneurship entitled Startup Law 101: Protect Your New Venture.

November 20, 2024 — 
On November 5, 2024, 3 law students from the Faculty of Law’s Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts became educators and gave an in-person seminar to the University of Winnipeg’s “The Business of Theatre” Class.

November 7, 2024 — 
On October 24-27, 2024, law students from the Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts participated in the Manitoba Arts Network Showcase in Brandon, Manitoba, which celebrated 40 years of connecting artists and communities in rural and Northern Manitoba. This annual event welcomed over 150 artists, presenters, and industry supporters together for four days of education, networking, and celebration.

October 30, 2024 — 
On October 7 and 8, 2024, 10 law students from the Faculty of Law’ s L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic attended the Canadian Technology Law Association’s (“CAN-TECH”) 2024 Fall Technology Conference in Toronto, Ontario. This was an incredible opportunity for law students to not only learn about the latest developments in technology and law, but to also engage with leading professionals in this space.

July 26, 2024 — 
The University of Manitoba Faculty of Law has been named one of three law school recipients of a grant under the the Intellectual Property Clinics Program, which promotes intellectual property education, awareness, and capacity building. The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced the 2023–2024 recipients of support on May 1, 2024. The grant will support the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic and Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts and be used to enhance IP training for law students participating in these Clinics at the Faculty of Law.

July 8, 2024 — 
On May 30, 2024, law students from the Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts attended Arts & Culture Day at the Legislature, hosted by Manitobans for the Arts. This marked the first time in eight years that the event was held, bringing together lawmakers, artists, arts and culture organizations, and arts supporters. The law students had the unique opportunity to connect with many of the amazing individuals who contribute to Manitoba’s vibrant arts scene.
