February 6, 2025 — 
The Manitoba Marathon cancelled due to heat in 2022. A shortened cross-country ski season because there wasn’t enough snow in 2024. These are just two examples of how climate change is changing sport. If you look globally, there are many more.  Dr. Madeleine Orr, a world-leading sports ecologist will give the keynote address at the University of Manitoba’s Sustainability Night on Feb. 27, with her talk titled 'Climate change vs. sport: Keeping the score on adaptation and activism'.

Do you know someone who is making a big impact on sustainability on campus? Nominate them for a 2025 UM Sustainability Award.

Bell Let’s Talk Day is Wednesday, January 22. UM is joining in and hosting events and activities from January 20-27! Consider Bell Let’s Talk Day the start of a new year to take action in mental health. We can all create real change.

UM’s participation in the consortium builds on its longstanding support for Canada’s military community, which began in 1974 with the Canadian Forces University Program and continues through the Military Support Office established in 2006.

Final exams can be a period of stress and anxiety for any student and UM offers many forms of support in preparation for finals and to help you manage your stress during this time. Though you may be prepared for your final, unexpected circumstances still arise where a deferred exam may be considered.

Retirement, while exciting, can bring a mix of emotions. In recognition of the complexities of this life transition, the Office of the Vice-Provost (Academic Affairs), through UM Family Resources, and the help of the Pension Office and Human Resources, has developed a number of resources to support staff and faculty as they navigate the non-financial aspects of retirement.
