The Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) is pleased to announce 35 projects awarded funding, totaling over $2.2 million, through the Strategic Initiatives Support Fund (SISF). As the newly funded projects get underway, many projects from last year’s SISF fund have been completed. Read about three examples of impact from the SISF 2023-2024.

Dr. Robert McRuer, a professor of English at George Washington University, is the second guest speaker in the Anti-Ableism and Accessibility Speaker Series, hosted by the Office of Equity Transformation.

The Fellows in Equity, Anti-Oppression and Social Justice program aims to ensure student voices, vision and experiences are valued and embedded into institutional initiatives for social justice, equity, accessibility and anti-oppression at the University of Manitoba.

December 3 is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities which aims to promote understanding of issues that impact people who live with disabilities, and to mobilize support for their rights and well-being. Learn how the University of Manitoba is working to dismantle ableism, and advance equity, diversity, inclusion and access for all members of our community.

The Promoting Black Flourishing Fund supports initiatives led by Black members of the UM Community and Black UM-affiliated groups and organizations that support the objectives of The Scarborough Charter, and advances anti-racism at the University of Manitoba.

At the University of Manitoba we are committed to creating meaningful change through a variety of actions focused around the principles of equity, anti-oppression, inclusion and transformation. On this day of Transgender Day of Remembrance, we acknowledge the lives of transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming people who have lost their lives in acts of transphobic violence.
