June 28, 2024 —  The Asper School of Business has appointed two new associate deans. Nathan Greidanus is the new Associate Dean of Professional Graduate Programs and Executive Education, and Wenxi Pu is the new Associate Dean of Teaching and Learning. Greidanus and Pu will assume these roles officially on July 1, 2024.

June 28, 2024 —  The Office of the Dean of Law welcomes new Assistant Professor Kenneth Grad, who formally commences his position at the Faculty of Law on July 1, 2024. Grad will be teaching criminal law and procedure commencing in the fall term and evidence in the winter term.

June 28, 2024 —  Dr. Charlotte Enns appointed Professor Emerita in recognition of her contributions to the Faculty of Education.

June 28, 2024 —  The Solar Hydrogen Activity Research Kit (SHArK North!) Solar Energy Outreach Program is an educationally inclusive outreach program run in partnership with multiple Winnipeg-area high schools. The program introduces Grade 11 and 12 students to materials science and renewable energy research, via the challenge of sustainably powering our planet. Specifically, the program provides participants with experience in hands-on research in combinatorial solid-state mixed metal oxide construction and electrochemical evaluation of light-driven water oxidation.

June 28, 2024 —  The Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe) version of Star Wars: A New Hope makes its debut August 8, 2024 at Centennial Concert Hall in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

June 27, 2024 —  Dr. Dorthe Dorthe Dahl-Jensen, along with four colleagues, won the prestigious BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in the Climate Change category. Dr. Dahl-Jensen and her team were lauded for their work on using ice cores in Greenland to track the relationship of greenhouse gas concentrations to changes in climate over the past 800,000 years.
