Nursing students adapt workshops to inspire youth virtually

Despite having to take an entirely new approach, a team of volunteer students from the College of Nursing, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, welcomed nearly 80 youth from across the city to explore nursing careers as part of the CanU Inspire and Explore programs this past fall and winter.

Two new Canada Research Chairs awarded prestigious Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowships

UM Canada Research Chairs Dr. Galen Wright and Dr. Britt Drögemöller, faculty members in the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, were recently awarded a pair of one-year fellowships that will allow them to collaborate on neurogenomics and precision medicine with Stellenbosch University, South Africa.

Graduate programs in nursing reach 40-year milestone

In 1980, the College of Nursing took a major step in its evolution: it admitted the first students to its inaugural master of nursing program. “It’s hard to believe it’s been 40 years,” says associate professor Judith Scanlan [BN/67, M.Ed./83, PhD/96], former associate dean, graduate programs, who has been teaching at the college for 46 years and joined the full-time faculty in 1983. “We’ve come a long way.”
