Bison Pride Fridays

January 6, 2016 —

Did you know that Bison Pride Fridays have been taking place on campus for three years now? You may have noticed staff wearing Bison gear on Fridays to support the initiative, or seen students winning prizes just because they’re showing their Bison Pride.

“Bison Pride Fridays aims to bring the university community together, build connections and improve the overall student experience at the University of Manitoba,” says Kevin Oliver, Student Life coordinator and organizer of Bison Pride Fridays.

In the past, a group of Bison athletes would roam different areas of campus and give out a prize to anyone they see wearing anything Bison. We’re changing things up a bit for 2016 to give you a better opportunity at winning some free Bison Swag and to have a bit more fun on your Friday!

Starting Friday, January 8 Student Life staff and Bison athlete volunteers will be set up in the Fireside Lounge between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. giving you the opportunity to engage with fun activities and win prizes for showing your Bison Pride. No excuses anymore to not show your pride, you know where the prizes will be, so get there quickly!

Here’s a quick look at what we have lined up for the month of January:
*Every Friday includes prize giveaways

January 8: Bison banner painting:
Show your creativity, sign your name or paint within the lines and help create Bison banners. At the end of the day, we will be taking the banners over to the Bison volleyball game to hang in the bleachers so that the team knows the students are behind them!

January 15: Free cotton candy & popcorn:
This just might be the easiest part of your week! Just stop by and help yourself to a bag of popcorn or some cotton candy.

January 22: Mario Kart 8 on Nintendo Wii U:
Stop by the Student Life booth during the Get Involved Fair to not only experience ways for you to get involved, but also to see if you can beat some of our volunteers and staff in Mario Kart 8!

January 29: Blind dessert tasting:
Are you brave enough to taste a dessert without knowing what it is? Come down for free desserts baked by Degrees restaurant. We’ll have an assortment for you to try so we’re confident you’ll find something you like!
