ASK ME booth returning to UMSU University Centre on November 23
Now that you’ve been on the UM campus for two months, questions might be popping into your mind about all kinds of things. Where are all the student services offices? How do I get support for academic or mental health challenges? How do I prepare for in person final exams? On November 23, drop by the ASK ME booth at UMSU University Centre (near G.P.A.’s) from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and staff from Student Engagement and Success will be there to help. You can drop by with a question or just stop and say “Hi!” and pick up free snacks and other giveaways. There will also be a chance to leave your feedback and ideas regarding UM supports.
Stephanie Young, UM’s Student Transitions Coordinator, is looking forward to meeting both undergraduate and graduate students at the ASK ME Booth. “We know that November is a time of transition for students – both in terms of the changing weather and the winding down of the academic term. This transition is especially salient during our first fully in person term on campus since winter 2020. The ASK ME booth will give us the opportunity to meet students in a busy campus hub and find out what they need to know right now. Our unit is connected to so many support offices on campus that we are here to help students take their next right step.”
Virginia, a student success tutor with the Charge Ahead program, is also excited to be staffing the booth. “We’re here to help connect students and let them know about opportunities and programs on campus that they have access to. This is the type of support that I wish I had known about when I was a newer student and I didn’t know how to reach out for it. I’m so happy to help and be that support for other students now!”
Charge Ahead is a program for UM students that launched in Fall 2022 to focus on helping UM students find personal satisfaction and success, both inside and outside the classroom.
