Fall 2025 Graduate Writing Retreat
Grad student feeling the pressure of upcoming deadlines? Finding it hard to concentrate? Need that final push to power through your proposal, thesis, or dissertation? Good news—you’ve got support!
The Academic Learning Centre, in partnership with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, is hosting an intensive 3-day writing retreat designed to help graduate students progress toward completing sustained writing projects. The Graduate Writing Retreat will take place from December 17 to 19 on the Fort Garry Campus.
The focus of this retreat is writing. Each day starts with a short workshop on writing strategies, such as writing faster, dealing with procrastination, and establishing a consistent writing routine. Attendees are challenged to write as many words as possible over the three days, with a stretch goal of 10,000 words.
Applications are due Thursday, December 4 at 11 a.m. All graduate students are welcome to apply; however, preference will be given to students who are close to finishing their research proposal, thesis, or dissertation, and have a clear writing plan for the 3-day retreat.
