Increase to Healthcare Spending Account

January 13, 2015 —

The staff benefits office in Human Resources has announced an increase, effective immediately, in the annual allocation for each individuals’ Healthcare Spending Account (HCSA) as follows:

Current Allocation: Full-Time; Part-Time

Current: $600 $420

Increased Allocation: Full-Time; Part-Time

Retroactively as of April 1, 2014: $650; $455

As of April 1, 2015: $725; $510

This means that staff will see two increases, one immediately ($650/$455) and another on April 1, 2015 ($725/$510).

If you have already submitted claims in excess of the current allocation for 2014/15 ($600/$420), Great-West Life will automatically re-adjudicate your claims based on the increased allocation – there is no need to resubmit your claims.

For more information on the HCSA Increase, please refer to the latest Staff Benefits Bulletin.

Any questions or comments on the financial impact of these changes can be directed to Kim Middagh, staff benefits administrator, at kim [dot] middagh [at] umanitoba [dot] ca or via phone at 474-6990. For staff with questions regarding their own personal HCSA, please direct these to the appropriate staff benefits generalist assigned to your last name.
