Looking back on 2019 with @umstudent

As we close out the year (and decade!) we decided to look back on what a great year it’s been. Our @umstudent Instagram account is a diverse look at the student experience across both campuses, and even around the world. Thanks to you, our students, for making @umstudent a success. We’ve had incredible takeovers showcasing travel, research, sports, and other student accomplishments – and of course our account is run by a wonderfully creative student as well. The nationally third-ranked University of Manitoba Bison women’s hockey team invites you to show your support on their playoffs against the UBC Thunderbirds in the Canada West semi-finals this upcoming weekend. The best-of-three series will play out tonight and tomorrow (Feb. 22- 23 at 7PM) and Sunday, Feb. 24, if necessary) on home ice at the Wayne Fleming Arena. Tickets will be available at the door for $12 while UofM students and fans under 17 get in for free. We’re wishing you the best of luck to keep the national title! #umstudent #umanitoba #gobisons

I hope you’ve enjoyed following along with me today! If there is one thing I can leave you with, it’s that we all have a role to play. Take the time to really understand what climate change is, and what your impact is. Start with reducing your personal impact on the planet, and keep going from there. If there is one thing most of us can agree on, it’s that we need to do something about climate change. Convocation wouldn’t be complete without Rusty the therapy dog & George (Rusty’s dad). Not only has Rusty been recognized nationally for his volunteering, but he and the Ames family received a Friends of the Class of 2019 award yesterday at our grad brunch.
