Attend the 3rd Annual Health Sciences Career Fair – June 18

Whether you are looking for work right now or would like the opportunity to see what is out there for the future, this event is for you.

April 27, 2021 —

This year, the Health Sciences Career Fair at the University of Manitoba Bannatyne Campus has aligned with the Canadian Student Health Research Forum (CSHRF) and is co-hosted by Career Services and the Health Sciences Graduate Students’ Association (HSGSA).

This Fair is an excellent opportunity for you to meet companies that employ students and graduates from faculties related to Health Sciences. Whether you are looking for work right now or would like the opportunity to see what is out there for the future, this event is for you.

Employers hiring for health related positions want to meet with students to share summer, part-time and permanent full-time employment opportunities and discuss what they look for in potential employees. Broaden your understanding about skills and attributes that will make you more employable in the health science and healthcare industry. This is a chance to better understand the labour market and start making important connections.

To maximize your Career Fair experience, you can prepare by accessing the list of employers attending on the Career Services website. Be sure to research the organizations and career opportunities thoroughly so you are able to have focused conversations about your areas of interest. Being knowledgeable about an organization is the key to making a good first impression. Get a feel for what the employer is seeking by talking to them at the Career Fair. Ask about the top skills or experiences they are seeking in new hires, so you are able to develop these competencies with intention

Prior to the Career Fair, join a Career Fair Preparation workshop (May 5 at 1 p.m., May 19 at 1 p.m. or June 3 at 11 a.m.) to learn how to navigate the fair and set up your profile on the Careers4Canada platform. Need help with your resumé? The Resumé Learning Centre has gone virtual – email your resumé to cs[dot]receptionist[at]umanitoba[dot]ca and make an appointment with a member of the Career Services team to ensure your marketing materials are the best they can be. Attending the fair might lead to some exciting opportunities in your future. The better prepared you are in advance of the Career Fair, the more successful you will be.

Setting up your profile and attaching your resumé well before the fair will provide employers an opportunity to get to know you in advance. Employers may also go in and invite you to their booth. The sooner you’re set up, the more exposure you will have with employers attending the fair.

Attending a Career Fair can boost your career prospects, give you more career information, and help you to develop skills and connections that will benefit your future significantly.

We can’t wait to see you there.
