Welcoming new students at Orientation 2014
The 2014/2015 academic year is nearly underway, and the University of Manitoba is getting set to welcome over 4,500 new undergraduate students to the Fort Garry Campus for Orientation 2014 on Sept. 2 and 3!
Beginning life at university is an exciting time, but it can also be a bit stressful. Orientation is the perfect opportunity to meet fellow students, find your way around campus, and learn how to make the most out of your experience at the U of M.
By now, new students will have received their orientation group number, time, date and meeting location (check your student email if you haven’t). If you are ever lost or don’t know where to go, head to one of our five information stations and they will gladly help you out. You can find those locations on the U of M campus map (pdf version here).
Orientation is also a great time to mark some important tasks off your checklist, including paying your tuition, getting your photo I.D. and buying your textbooks.
BANNATYNE ORIENTATION
Orientation at Bannatyne campus is already underway, with tours, great food and prizes being offered throughout this week.
JOIN IN AT #UMORIENTATION
To get the most out of Orientation, make sure to follow along our social media channels (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook), as well as the U of M student channels (Twitter and Facebook). Tag all of your posts with #umorientation. Social media will also be the only place to find out how you can win tickets to an upcoming Bisons football game!
PEP RALLY AND BISONS FOOTBALL HOME OPENER
The festivities continue on Sept. 12, when the U of M Bisons football team faces the University of Regina Rams in the 2014 home opener at Investors Group Field. Prior to the game will be the annual pep rally, where we’ll celebrate all of our student athletes, including the women’s volleyball and men’s golf teams’ recent national championships. Get your tickets at the Curry Place Pedway during Orientation to help create a sea of gold with a free t-shirt.
