Webex Audio Launched

New resource enhances accessibility for students with internet connection issues

June 16, 2020 —

The transition to remote learning has required a reliance on technology. If you are a student who has difficulty with your internet connection, two new options in Webex will allow you to connect by phone to the audio portion of the teaching session. You will not be charged for the call, regardless of your location.

The Call Me/Call me at a new number option will prompt you to enter a phone number for Webex to call you and act as your microphone and speaker.

The Call In/I will call in option is for when you do not have a computer. This feature allows you to call in to our Canadian toll-free number using your phone. You will first need to contact your instructor to confirm the session ID and calling instructions. Students will be required to enter the Access Code and Attendee ID.

If you do have a reliable internet connection, the recommended way to access your courses in Webex is with the Call using computer option. Webex will use your computer’s microphone and speakers to connect you to the teaching session.

For detailed instructions of these three options, please log in to see UM Learn.
