Dec. 10, 2019: In 2016, the Travel Booking and Expense Management Steering Committee was struck to conduct an extensive stakeholder engagement process and recommend changes to the travel and business expense policy, procedures, and processes. The Steering Committee’s recommendations were approved by Janice Ristock, Provost and Vice-President (Academic). A summary of the changes can be found here [PDF].

As part of the committee’s final report, it was recommended that a subsequent review occur to determine whether the changes implemented have been successful and if additional enhancements need to be considered.  As such, the Steering Committee, chaired by Kelley Main, associate dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies, has been reconvened.

Over the next couple of months, the Steering Committee will:

  • Review Concur data analytics;
  • Seek feedback from our community of stakeholders; and
  • Determine if any further recommendations should be implemented.

The multi-pronged approach to stakeholder engagement is planned and interested parties are invited to share their views by submitting anonymous feedback through the Travel Booking and Expense Management webpage; emailing travel [dot] review [at] umanitoba [dot] ca; or reaching out to any member of Steering Committee directly (membership list link here). The Committee will also hold meetings with specific key groups. Please submit your feedback before January 15, 2020.

Following this two-month engagement period, the Committee will present a report to the Provost on what they heard and recommend any further changes to the policy, procedures or processes.

“We continue to realize the benefits of the Steering Committee’s initial work and I look forward to their continued attention to this project. Together, we remain committed to supporting a positive work and learning environment”, says Janice Ristock, Provost and Vice-President (Academic).
