The Centre’s new course development guide is now available
The Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning has developed a Course Development Guide to support U of M instructional staff who are creating or revising an online, blended or face-to-face course. The guide walks readers through the creation of a course from preliminary planning to delivery.
This resource outlines guiding principles that are essential to developing a course that is rooted in evidence-based best practices and will optimize success for all students. Other topics covered include: stages of the course development process; constructive alignment of course goals, learning objectives, assessments and teaching strategies; developing a syllabus, also known as the course outline; and lesson planning.
The guide can be accessed on The Centre’s website under the heading “Handbooks”.
