Kids discover health-care careers at UM summer camp

July 24, 2025 — 
The University of Manitoba’s Rady Faculty of Health Sciences welcomed students back to its Biomedical Youth Program (BYP) Summer Camp — a week-long immersive experience where youth explore careers in the health sciences through hands-on learning. After a pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the camp returned this year with new programming.

First Nations partner with UM to “grow our own” rehabilitation specialists starting in junior high

June 2, 2025 — 
Nearly 200 people turned out to Oscar Lathlin Collegiate in Opaskwayak Cree Nation (OCN) on May 26 for the launch of a new initiative between the College of Rehabilitation Sciences and nine First Nations communities in Manitoba, supported by the University of Manitoba’s innovative partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.

Effects of social isolation highlighted in national aging study

May 23, 2025 — 
This year marks the half-way point of a major 20-year Canada-wide study on the complexities of the aging process. Since it was launched in 2015, Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) has seen over 300 studies published using its data, including from researchers at the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences.
