Plant scientists recognized for research excellence

Dr. Martin Entz was honoured by the Canada Organic Trade Association with the Leadership in Organic Science Award during the 10th anniversary Organic Week Celebration recently. Martin was acknowledged for his significant body of research in organic production.
He leads the Glenlea Long-Term Rotation Study – Canada’s oldest organic vs conventional farming systems experiment, which just completed its 28th season.
Dr. Doug Cattani has been selected as the recipient of a Manitoba Excellence in Sustainability Award in the category of Innovation and Research for Sustainability. These awards are meant to honour people, projects and ideas that successfully turn the province’s principles and guidelines of sustainable development into concrete and lasting achievements.
Doug leads a team working on perennial cropping systems, in particulaar intermediate wheatgrass, which is a sod-forming perennial grass.
