More about UM’s EDI community of practice

The vision of the EDI community of practice is to bring together UM employees and students to foster an inclusive campus.

Initiated in spring 2021, the EDI community of practice has close to 200 members to date, all interested in advancing EDI in our community. The goal of the group is to explore EDI best practices and to facilitate group discussion around the difficult issues. The top priority of the group is an anti-racism strategy for UM.

One recommendation of the final report by the President’s Task Force on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is to develop an anti-racism strategy that encompasses prevention (including education) and processes to address racism when experienced. The extent to which the RWLE policy and procedure is effective in addressing racism will also be evaluated.
