December 23, 2024 — 
At least four members of the Robson Hall community including a current law student and three alumni were included in Ace Burpee's list of Top 100 Most Fascinating Manitobans of 2024, released December 21.

December 23, 2024 — 
On Friday, December 6, 2024, members of the Manitoba Indigenous Law Students’ Association assembled for their monthly meeting with Indigenous faculty members but this time they were joined by a very special guest: Chief Wilton Littlechild, CC; KC; IPC; FP; BA, MA, LLB(Alta); LLD(Alta)(Leth)(Man). The renowned Treaty 6 lawyer, politician, athlete, Cree chief, and advocate for Indigenous rights had come to speak at the law school’s Indigenous Legal Methodologies and Perspectives class and also spend some quality time with MILSA members.

December 23, 2024 — 
With a research paper in the works for publication in the latest issue of The Manitoba Law Journal, Dr. Illia Roskoshnyi, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Faculty of Law, took a chance on entering the University of Manitoba’s second annual Three Minute Postdoctoral (3MP) Competition this past September.

December 19, 2024 — 
On December 4 and 5, 2024, law students from the University of Manitoba Community Law Centre and the Criminal Law Group participated in the Criminal Defence Lawyers Association of Manitoba [CDLAM] annual conference. As a professional association representing the interests of Manitoba criminal defence lawyers, CDLAM brings together lawyers, law students and other justice system participants to reflect on the last year in criminal law, explore emerging issues, and call attention to the unique professional challenges of criminal defence lawyering.

December 18, 2024 — 
The odd little table covered with monitors, bending arms and cables in the northwest corner of Robson Hall's MLT Aikins Classroom (room 206) is - a podcast studio. The only one of its kind thus far on the Fort Garry Campus, it is intended to be used by the Faculty of Law for a variety of innovative and dynamic teaching and learning situations. Added by MLT Aikins LLP as a continuation of upgrades the western Canadian law firm has sponsored in room 206 at Robson Hall, the studio was completed late fall, 2024.

On November 27, 2024, two third-year law students, Nicholas Ly (3L) and Jordan Wagner (3L) [BComm(Hons)/2022] , from the Faculty of Law’s L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic, delivered an insightful presentation at the Faculty of Law to fellow students. This event, entitled "Where IP and Business Law Connect", was hosted by the Manitoba Law Student Association’s, Intellectual Property and Technology Law Group and the Business Law Group. The presentation highlighted the critical intersections between intellectual property (IP) and business law.

December 9, 2024 — 
On November 21, 2024, the Manitoba Indigenous Law Students Association (MILSA), in partnership with the Manitoba Bar Association’s newly established Indigenous Lawyers Forum, hosted the inaugural “In Good Relations” networking event at Migizii Agamik (“the Bald Eagle Lodge”) on the University of Manitoba campus. Julianna Albert, a 2L student, translated “In Good Relations” into Cree as “kâkînaw mino omâkiinak,” noting that the name “beautifully captures the essence of the event.” Designed as an informal and welcoming gathering, the event aimed to foster meaningful connections between Indigenous law students, practicing lawyers, and articling students.

December 6, 2024 — 
On October 11, 2024, law students at the University of Manitoba’s L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic had the unique opportunity to meet in person with the Clinic’s benefactor, L. Kerry Vickar [LLB/1980], and his wife, Simone Vickar. This visit allowed students to showcase what they’ve learned through the Clinic and to gain insights from an alum whose entrepreneurial vision has helped shaped their legal education.
