Important things to know the week of March 26 to April 1

April 1, 2020 —

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, the UM continues to respond in these trying times. Updates in the past week include:

Parking: Because the University is now closed, April 2020 parking fees will be waived for student and staff parking permit holders. Staff permit holders will retain their space in the lot they currently occupy. See UM Today parking story for more information.

All employees are to work from home with only limited access for designated employees deemed as essential on site. Research, scholarly works and creative activities have been suspended (with exceptions approved by VPRI) for most on-campus/field sites. Researchers will continue as much research as possible remotely. All events have been cancelled or postponed, including Spring Convocation.

Mental health supports are available for staff and their dependents through the UM Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) plan. Members and their dependents can contact Lifeworks by Morneau Shepell at 1-800-387-4765 (English) or 1-800-361-5676 (French).

All course instructors are working remotely as they continue to offer their courses in alternate ways to ensure our students can successfully complete the term.

Sport and Recreation Facilities are closed and programming suspended. Campus Children’s Centre is closed as of March 23.

Winnipeg Transit rapid transit schedules will change as of April 12 with the launch of the BLUE rapid transit line.
