Bison Football wins Hardy Cup

November 16, 2014 —

The Manitoba Bisons Football team beat the fourth-seed Calgary Dinos at McMahon Stadium in the 2014 Canada West Final on Saturday, Nov. 15.

This is the 11th Hardy Cup trophy (1923, 1924, 1927, 1965, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1973, 2001, 2007, 2014) won by the Bisons and first since the 2007 Vanier Cup championship; it is also the first time the Bisons have beat Calgary in the postseason.

“We continued to go upward and forward in all aspects of the game,” Bison Football head coach Brian Dobie said after the game. “This team feels it has been growing through the elongated season and today was arguably our best game so far this 2014 season.”

The Bisons will now play in the CIS Semi-Final, the Uteck Bowl, against the second-place Montreal Carabins at Montreal’s stadium on Nov. 22. The Bisons have never played the Carabins and the game starts at 11:30 a.m. CST and can be followed on Sportsnet 360 or Radio-Canada TV.
