U of M and largest staff group successfully negotiate agreement
Four-year agreement with Association of Employees Supporting Education Services includes salary increases

The University of Manitoba and AESES, its largest bargaining group, representing almost 2,600 support staff workers, have successfully negotiated a new four-year collective agreement. In a vote among AESES members held December 9, 91 per cent of voting members elected to accept the agreement.
The agreement includes general salary increases commencing April 5, 2015, broken out as follows:
- In Year 1, a general increase of 1.5 per cent above the salaries in effect April 4, 2015
- In Year 2, an increase of 1.0 per cent above the salaries in effect March 25, 2016 and increases of Steps 7 through 10 of the salary scale by 0.25 per cent each
- In Year 3, a general increase of 1.5 per cent above the salaries in effect March 24, 2017
- In Year 4, a general increase of 2.0 per cent above the salaries in effect March 23, 2018
Bargaining between the University of Manitoba and AESES began on April 15, 2015.
The University of Manitoba and AESES utilized a collaborative approach to bargaining, referred to as interest-based bargaining.
