Welcome to UM Today!

October 23, 2013 —

Welcome! This dynamic, interactive and mobile-friendly news site is the most substantial update to University of Manitoba news sharing since The Bulletin was launched over seven decades ago. UM Today will change the way you access, consume, and share University of Manitoba news.

It starts with the rich storytelling experience UM Today offers, allowing us to creatively blend images, links, audio clips, video and social media feeds to tell our stories in a more immediate way, and to a larger, more diverse audience.

For instance, readers who prefer accessing news on smartphones and tablets will enjoy UM Today because the site responds to whatever OS or device is being used. Whether you’re on an iPad, Android phone, or Blackberry device, UM Today will provide an optimal viewing experience, easy reading and navigation.

Additionally, regular users of our UManitoba app will notice that UM Today is now accessible through the app’s news icon.

The modern web also demands engagement and UM Today delivers, allowing readers to interact with us through our social media channels – which feature on the site’s homepage – and through the comments sections of our stories. Sharing our stories is no longer a one-way exchange, it’s a discussion, and we want to hear from you.

We know you want to connect with more people in and out of the university community, sharing important information and stories about the remarkable things happening on our campuses. So we think you’ll appreciate UM Today’s exciting strengths and readily adopt it as your source for university news and commentary.

And if you have a story idea, send it to us! Click on “Submit a story” in the top banner and pitch your idea.
