Wpg Free Press: Football Herd has great chance with Yantz
You may want to buy your Bison Football tickets early and watch the best quarterback in the country, Bison Jordan Yantz.
The CIS football season is coming up fast and if Brian Dobie is right, the University of Manitoba Bisons might have the best quarterback in the country ready to run the offence.
“We’ve had some good quarterbacks, so I’m going to lose some friends when I say this…” the U of M head coach said at a press conference on Tuesday. “Jordan Yantz is at a whole different level. He’s an amazing athlete, great leader and his ability to throw the football is through the roof.“At our level he’s that guy, he’s as good as it gets in this country.”
The fifth-year player is coming off a spot on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ training camp roster earlier this year. In 2013, he helped the Bisons to the Canada West final, while earning Canada West all-star honours and leading the CIS in touchdown passes.
The Winnipeg Free Press covered Yantz again with this piece too.

The Bison gang is back in action as the football team prepares for another exciting season at Investors Group Field. The Bisons hope to build on the success of 2013 after a disappointing loss to the Calgary Dinos in the Hardy Cup final (the CIS Western Conference championship). The 2014 season begins on the road with a game against Saskatchewan on September 5. The team returns to Investors Group Field for the home opener on Friday, September 12 against the Regina Rams.
Ticket prices remain the same from the inaugural season at Investors Group Field ($15 for adults and $8 for students/seniors; children six and under are free.) But there is a new season ticket package on offer for the 2014-2015 season: Adults price is $50 ($10 saving from regular price) while students/seniors is $25 ($7 saving) plus U of M Alumni and Staff is $45 ($15 saving). A ticketing surcharge will apply.
There will also be a brand new group tiered system for Bison Football tickets. A group purchasing 10-15 tickets will receive a 15 per cent discount on the overall price while a group of 16-50 tickets has a 20 per cent discount and a group with 51+ tickets will earn a 30 per cent discount.
