We’ll get it for you — with curbside pickup
Libraries add curbside pickup to provide access to physical collections
UM Libraries has launched curbside pickup — a service which will operate from the shipping entrance of Dafoe Library, but includes materials from all libraries on both campuses.
Initially, curbside pickup will be available only to faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows. An expanded service for undergraduate students is being tentatively planned for September.
We’ll get it for you!
UM Libraries (UML) is committed to building student and faculty success. Although we are unable to open our physical libraries, you can access our collections in the following three ways:
- Get it Digitally: Find books online
- Get it Curbside: Faculty, Graduate Students, and Post-Doctoral can request Curbside Pickup of print materials
- Get it Scanned: Request a scanned chapter, table of contents, or other portion from a print publication
A recent study has shown that that the virus is detectable on library materials for up to three days after handling, so items are being quarantined as a safety precaution before delivery.
Shipping may add further delay depending on where the materials are located. As a result, it will take longer than usual for materials to be ready for pick up, from one week to 10 days.
Additional measures will also be in place to ensure physical distancing between staff and borrowers when picking up materials; and it is possible to have materials picked up by another person if necessary.
Remember to check the Libraries’ COVID-19 update page regularly for new information.
