University of Manitoba announces its largest gift ever

On Manitoba Day, Thursday, May 12, 2016, the University of Manitoba will receive the largest philanthropic gift in its history.

This gift will be truly transformative, changing the Faculty of Health Sciences in a very significant way. 

The amazing gift will bolster teaching, learning and research in health sciences for many generations to come. Its impact will be felt immediately, since the announcement of this gift coincides with the 2016 Medical Convocation of the University of Manitoba, when 106 new doctors graduate and begin their work, practicing in our community, improving the lives of Manitobans.

Interview opportunities

Media are invited to meet the benefactor of this gift during a very limited window of opportunity between 9:15 to 9:30 am in the Buhler Atrium, Bannatyne Campus. 

Following the media opportunity, the Medical Convocation begins at 10:30 am in the Brodie Atrium next door.

The formal announcement of the gift and its impact will be made at the beginning of the Convocation ceremony, including comments from the benefactor and others. 

A n additional media opportunity may be available at approximately 2:30 pm in the Brodie Atrium.
