United Way Campaign 2014 Volunteer Selection
The following is letter sent by the the United Way campaign Chair and Co-Chairs to Deans and Directors:
We are writing to ask for your help in ensuring the success of this year’s United Way campaign at the University of Manitoba. Our United Way campaign is one of the most successful in Winnipeg in terms of dollars raised and the number of employees participating. Last year, the University of Manitoba campaign raised over $640,000 for the United Way as a result of the efforts of 95 volunteers and the participation of 151 departments.
We are writing to ask for your assistance in identifying volunteers for your unit for the 2014 campaign.
We need enthusiastic, motivated individuals who support the United Way to volunteer. This is an excellent volunteer opportunity for staff to develop leadership skills, build team capacity, and get to know colleagues at the University. Ideally, we would like one volunteer for every 20 employees in your unit.
Volunteers will be trained and directed by United Way representatives during a lunch meeting in September. Deans/Directors need only identify volunteers for the Dean’s/Director’s Office, and Department Heads are asked to identify volunteers for Departments. However, we hope you will work together to get a full complement of volunteers for your Faculty/School or administrative unit overall.
Using this form, please forward the names of your unit volunteers by September 5, 2014 to:
