UM listed among Canada’s top 100 employers by Forbes Magazine
The University of Manitoba has been listed as one of Canada’s Top Employers according to a new survey released this week. Forbes Magazine partnered with market research firm Statista to compile its annual list of outstanding employers by surveying more than 8,000 Canadians working for businesses or institutions with at least 500 employees. Participants were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family, and to nominate organizations other than their own.
UM was one of only eight Manitoba employers who made it into Forbes’ survey, and one of two to make the top 100. Other Manitoba employers on the list include Manitoba Hydro, Princess Auto, and Shared Health.
“The University of Manitoba strives to create an exceptional work environment, and I congratulate our community for being recognized in this way,” says Dr. Michael Benarroch, president and vice-chancellor. “We find tremendous purpose and fulfillment in the meaningful work we accomplish together – supporting student success and contributing to the success of our entire province.”
Employers in a variety of different fields were included in the survey, from educational institutions to health care companies, utilities, retail, and manufacturing.
Technology conglomerate Cisco took the No. 1 spot on the list, Environment and Climate Change Canada ranked second, followed by video game company Ubisoft in third place.
