College of Nursing Hosts Second Annual Flu Clinic

“Okay, you’re going to feel a little pinch.” For the price of just a moment’s discomfort, each patient who heard those words at the College of Nursing Flu Clinic this week got to cuddle Romeo the dog, enjoy a piece or two of candy, and most of all, received free immunization with the annual flu vaccine.

Nursing students welcomed at orientation days

The College of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences welcomed 120 new undergraduate students at the New Student Orientation. The two-day event provides students with important information on what to expect during the course of their study.
A (busy) day in the life

At 35, Erin Kangas quit her full-time fundraising job and went back to school to become a nurse. Today, the third-year student successfully juggles her university classes, coursework and work practicum with the day surgery unit at St. Boniface Hospital; family life with husband Ryan, a high school phys-ed teacher, son Jacob, 8, and step-kids Camryn, 14, and Holden, 11; and a part-time waitressing job.
