Strong performance from Manitoba team at 2018 Davies Corporate/Securities Moot
Coach Professor Darcy MacPherson was happy to report he was “very pleased with the team’s performance and their preparation in getting there” to the 28th annual Davies Corporate/Securities moot held in Toronto this past March 9 – 10, 2018.
Team members Paolo Aquila, Amal Jabar, Heather Maxted and Erin Wolfe worked with fellow student researcher Emily Cummings, and coaches Sharyne Hamm [J.D./2016] of Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP, Ari Hanson [J.D./2012] of Fillmore Riley LLP, and Robson Hall Professor Darcy MacPherson.
MacPherson said the judges’ comments were very positive and offered some excellent advice to improve. Students were praised for creativity, analysis of the assigned issue, confidence and advocacy.
The Davies Corporate/Securities Law Moot is organized by the Toronto law firm Davies Ward Phillips and Vineberg LLP. Eleven law schools participated in the competition this year, which provides them with the opportunity to debate current legal issues in corporate and securities law. This year’s winning team was from the University of Toronto.
