Ruth E. Berry, Professor Emeritus and Dean Emeritus, to receive award for community service
This year’s Esther Zorde Award for Community Service, which is given by Community Financial Counselling Services Inc., is being presented to Dr. Ruth E. Berry, Professor Emeritus and Dean Emeritus, Faculty of Human Ecology, on June 12.
Dr. Berry earned the award for her sterling career that was focused on research, teaching, mentoring, and community leadership in the area of family finance. Her work has advanced our knowledge of family financial management, supported consumer advocacy, and improved the capacity of Manitoba’s families to increase their financial capabilities.
The award is named in memory of Esther Zorde, a lifelong member of Community Financial Counselling Services Inc., whose career of community service demonstrates how one person can quietly make a difference that touches many lives. The award recognizes persons who have selflessly engaged in community development and capacity building on behalf of families and those who are systemically disenfranchised and disadvantaged.
The award will be presented at the Community Financial Counselling Services Inc.’s 40th annual general meeting, which is being held at the U of M’s Asper School of Executive Extended Education Centre in downtown Winnipeg.
Congratulations Dr. Berry.
