Remembering Lorne Davies

February 28, 2015 —

Lorne Davies, honorary degree recipient and friend of the University of Manitoba, died on Feb. 27, 2015, at 85 years of age.

“Sad to learn that Dr Lorne Davies, a giant of a human being, died last night in British Columbia,” says John Kearsey, Mr. Davies’s friend and Vice-President (External) at the University of Manitoba.

“In 2011, Lorne invited me to join the Board of the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Program (a program that literally changed my life) and through that I got to know this dynamite man who personally and professionally is an inspiration. In June 2014, the University of Manitoba celebrated Lorne’s lifetime of contributions with an honorary degree — he was so humbled and so delighted. Thank you Lorne: your stories, advice, humour and passion will never be forgotten. You created a space for young people in Canada to thrive. My prayers to June and the entire Davies family. Peace and love.”
