Bison soccer team headed for post-season action

October 26, 2015 — 

The Manitoba Bison soccer team is headed for the playoffs after they split their series with Regina and Saskatchewan over the weekend.

This is the first time the Bisons are in the post-season since 2012 and only the fourth time they have reached the playoffs in the 11 year program’s history playing in Canada West.

The Bisons finished 7-5-2 and face Grant MacEwan for the second time in the 2015 season.

Both teams met in the conference regular season and the result was a 2-2 tie.

ELSEWHERE OVER THE WEEKEND:

FOOTBALL

In the final regular season game at home, the Manitoba Bisons Football team beat the Alberta Golden Bears 29-7. It marks the fourth consecutive win for the herd.

With the victory, the Bisons improve to 5-2 on the season.

VOLLEYBALL

The Bison men’s volleyball team picked up 2 wins over the weekend defeating UBC 3-2 and 3-0.

The Bison women’s volleyball team dropped 2 matches in a row to UBC, each by a score of 3-0

HOCKEY

The Bison men’s hockey team split their home series against UBC, falling in the first game 4-2 but coming back for a tight OT win on Sunday by a score of 3-2.

The women’s team faced off against UBC on the road also splitting their series with a 2-1 decision to UBC on Friday and 4-1 for the Bisons on Saturday.

BASKETBALL

In pre-season play, the Bison men’s basketball team lost 72-67 to Fraser Valley.
