New fire alarm tests

December 17, 2013 —

The University of Manitoba Physical Plant is implementing legislated, monthly fire alarm testing at the Fort Garry Campus, effective January 6, 2014.

This involves ringing all fire alarm bells/horns throughout the University of Manitoba within the first two weeks of each month.  Testing will commence the first Monday of each month.  During the fire alarm test, fire bells/horns will be pulsed for 5 seconds repetitively.  It is important to note that if a true fire alarm happens to coincide with fire alarm testing, fire bells/horns will stop pulsing and will ring continuously, thereby indicating that you must exit the building and follow established evacuation procedures.

Once again, pulsating fire alarm bells/horns within the first two weeks of each month indicate legislated, fire alarm testing by Physical Plant and do not require evacuation.
