New Data Science Centre – NEXUS at the U of M

The Faculty of Science announced today that it has formed, Data Science NEXUS, a new data science research centre. NEXUS will lead innovation and discovery in data science, an emerging field that is quickly shaping and reshaping our world. NEXUS aims to aid the U of M and the province in remaining competitive on the global stage.

UofM Chemistry Professor Jörg Stetefeld’s eDNA metabarcoding system has provided a new tool for collaboration with the Kivalliq Inuit Association (KIA). Together they are finding ways to combine traditional Inuit methods of resource management with new scientific methods to better understand biodiversity.
