Need a laptop?
UM Libraries offers laptop lending for UM students.
Laptops are now available for loan from the self-service lending locker at the Elizabeth Dafoe Library.
Additional computer resources for students returning to campus was a need identified by both students and faculties, particularly for students in a mixed-model online and in-person course schedule. Libraries provided a solution.
The locker comprises 24 laptop compartments that ensure that each laptop being loaned is fully charged and equipped with common productivity applications, such as Microsoft Office and web browsers.
Borrowing is easy
- Tap ‘Borrow laptop.’
- Swipe your UM ID card and agree to the terms.
- Unplug and remove the laptop from the lighted compartment.
Your library account will help you keep track by sending you a courtesy message to let you know the exact return time.
Laptops are loaned for four hours or until the closing of the Dafoe library. There is a small hourly fee for late returns and a fine for non-returns.
Plug it in
Returning is just as easy as borrowing, except that plugging in the laptop inside the compartment is essential to removing the item from your library account and avoiding fines.
Give it a try
The laptop lending locker is located across from the Brown Lab on the main level of the Elizabeth Dafoe Library.
