Message on reopening campus businesses
The University of Manitoba is aware that the provincial government has allowed limited reopening of some non-essential businesses as of May 4. Although we are keen to participate in this endeavour and look forward to reopening some of our campus businesses in the future, we have decided to remain status quo for now. The decision was made in consultation with the UM COVID-19 Advisory Committee, which includes representation from the entire campus community and our risk assessment office.
As discussions about reopening campus businesses move forward, please be assured that the health and safety of our campus community will continue to be at the forefront of our planning. We will share any new information about our reopening plan as soon as it becomes available.
Also note that while UM buildings and non-essential campus businesses remain closed, the university is very much open. COVID-related and essential research continues, courses have moved to remote delivery, many supports and services for students have moved online, and some businesses – bookstore, pharmacy – are offering pick-up with appropriate physical distancing measures in place. We are committed to delivering an outstanding student experience, regardless of how it is delivered.
Thank you for your patience and understanding on this matter. For ongoing updates and the latest information, please visit our COVID-19 updates page.
