MMC 2014 participants

Manitoba Materials Conference 2015 Winners!

The fifth annual Manitoba Materials Conference, (MMC 2015) was held on May 12, 2015. The event was well attended, more than 150 registered and 25% of participants were from outside the university. Dr. John Page, Distinguished Professor, department of physics and astronomy was a keynote speaker. With over 60 posters to complement the talks, the event provided an enthusiastic and in-depth illustration of the health and strength of materials research at the University of Manitoba.

Poster competition winners from the Faculty of Science included:

  • Sandeep Kaur, department of physics and astronomy, received a Honourable Mention, in the Undergraduate category, advisor Dr. Can Ming Hu.
  • Shaun Ryman, department of chemistry, received a Honourable Mention, in the Masters graduate category, advisors Michael Freud, and Jared Bruce.
  • Elizabeth Skoropata, department of physics and astronomy, won 1st place, in the Ph.D. graduate category, advisor J. van Lierop.
  • Yaroslav Wroczynski, department of physics and astronomy, received a Honourable Mention, in the Ph.D. graduate category, advisor  J. van Lierop.
  • Edis Dzananovic, department of chemistry, received a Honourable Mention, in the Ph.D. graduate category, advisor  Sean McKenna.
  • Lihui Bai, department of physics and astronomy, won 1st place in the PDF/RA category, advisor Dr. Can Ming Hu.

Congratulations to all who participated!
