Kicking off the giving season
How to participate in Giving Tuesday
With the frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday complete, the focus turns today to Giving Tuesday, a day that brings giving into focus during a time of year often dominated by consumerism. On the first Tuesday of December, charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for the “opening day of the giving season” by supporting important causes and philanthropic organizations, including the University of Manitoba.
The inaugural Giving Tuesday occurred in 2012 and the U of M first celebrated in 2014. Today the university helped mark the day with the announcement of a transformational $5 million gift from community leader and philanthropist Stanley Pauley.
The U of M has joined the global Giving Tuesday movement on social media with inspiring stories of our donors and the impact their support has on students and the community. Follow along with us using #umanitoba and #givingtuesdayca.
