November 22, 2016 —

Hard court action returns to Investors Group Athletic Centre this weekend as the Bison men’s and women’s basketball teams take on the University of Alberta.

Both games are on Friday, Nov. 25 with the women’s team taking the court at 6:00. Tipoff for the men’s game is at 8:00.

Looking to improve on their two and four record, the Bison men have a lot to prove to themselves after finishing in the top 10 for the first time in 20 years last seasons. Currently, they hold 10th spot in Canada West and will find great pride if they can take down the first-placed Golden Bears this weekend. The women, one and five, are looking for their second home win since clinching their first in two years only two weeks ago.

The spirit of the game

The fourth Spirit Cup event of the year is slated during Friday night’s match up when students from the University of Manitoba residences fill the stands and compete against each other during half time.

This is one of the Alumni Nights featured in the Bison home calendar. For Friday’s games, all University of Manitoba alumni can get in to the games for $5. Kids 12 and under are free. The game also features a Bison basketball alumni reception

between the women and men’s games.

Across the building the University of Manitoba Bison men’s hockey team laces their skates for a weekend series against Saskatchewan at Wayne Fleming Arena. The herd is five and seven on the season and presently locked into sixth place in Canada West.
