The University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Law is opening Robson Hall’s virtual doors to the entire legal community to attend a special session on Mindfulness on Monday, January 24 at 12:00 p.m. (CT). Western University’s Professor Thomas G.W. Telfer will speak to law students, faculty, staff, alumni and practicing legal professionals on the topic of “Mindfulness and Lawyer Well-Being.” This event is one of many mental health-oriented events on Robson Hall’s calendar throughout this second pandemic year.
Since August, 2021, many of the goals set for the Marcel A. Desautels Centre for Private Enterprise and the Law at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Law have been attained. A new website complete with social media presence launched this fall. A regular blog and a Western Canada case reporter prepared by law students under faculty supervision are underway. A for-credit Scholarly Publications course for the peer-reviewed Desautels Review of Private Enterprise and Law began with the fall term as an official part of the Law Faculty’s course calendar. And that is just the beginning.
This term, the Faculty of Law will welcome an impressive number of scholars from other universities as part of its long-running Distinguished Visitors Lecture Series. Each guest professor will share knowledge, experience and research with the Robson Hall community, and invite questions and discussion from participants. Faculty, students, practicing professional lawyers and interested members of the academic community are welcome to join these virtual lectures.
