As the Winnipeg Free Press reports:
The first time around for Desiree Scott, seeing her name written on an Olympic roster was euphoria, a “dream come true.”
Four years later, the feeling isn’t so new. So on Monday, when Canada Soccer unveiled the 18 women that will compete in Rio this summer — a list which includes Scott, nicknamed “The Destroyer” — the 5-3 Winnipeg midfielder was just ready to get to work.
“I’m excited, but it being my second Olympics… when it’s your first, it’s a dream come true,” Scott said over the phone from Kansas City, where she is in the middle of her pro season with Kansas City FC. “You don’t know what to expect, and all that excitement around it. Now you have that experience.”
