Flag lowered for National Day of Mourning

The flag on the Tier Building at the University of Manitoba will be lowered on April 28 in recognition of the National Day of Mourning.

The day is “dedicated to remembering those who have lost their lives, or suffered injury or illness on the job or due to a work-related tragedy,” notes the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety.

Last year, 19 Manitobans died from occupational illness and acute hazards, says the province.
