Fire Inspections at the University of Manitoba

July 23, 2014 —

University of Manitoba facilities are being inspected by the Winnipeg Fire Department as per Winnipeg’s Fire Prevention By-law. Inspections began in July, 2014 and will continue over the next several months. All University facilities will be inspected.

Copies of building inspection reports will be provided to the respective Deans and/or Head of Departments as well as Physical Plant. Physical Plant will issue work orders to address items related to the facility itself. Occupants are responsible for issues associated with the use of the space, eg. accumulation of combustible materials.

Areas with violations will be re-inspected in as little as 30 days. It is crucial that identified issues are addressed by the re-inspection date.

If there are any concerns or questions please contact EHSO at 474-6633 or Physical Plant at 474-6281 (Fort Garry Campus) or 789-3636 (Bannatyne Campus).
